to me, living my own life means having the agency to decide for myself. in our household, favors get held over one’s head, and if you do not want debt, you must come up with your own way to get what you wanted. living in that kind of environment made me realize that i have to be my own biggest advocate and not depend on somebody or just anybody at all.
